biography

Chiyoko Mimura (November 12, 1903 - January 2, 1974) was a Japanese actress. She appeared in stage plays from the age of nine, owing in part to her grandmother's history as a geisha and skilled shamisen player. She joined Shochiku Studios in 1920 and established a reputation as a popular actress. She collaborated with director Kiyohiko Ushihara, who thought highly of her abilities. The two grew closer, marrying in 1922. After their son Yoichi was born in 1924, Mimura gradually reduced her activities as an actress, and she retired by 1927.
