biography
Raffi Iskandar, born in Depok on February 11, 2001, is a short film director who has shown a strong interest in technology since an early age. His passion for the audiovisual world began in elementary school, where he started experimenting by making Harlem Shake videos and school farewell videos. His dedication and interest continued to grow throughout junior high school, when he and his friends produced their first short film using a handycam. By the time he reached high school, Raffi became more serious about developing his filmmaking skills. He produced several short films with his friends, some of which went on to win short film competitions at both city and national levels. One of his early achievements was winning first place in a short film competition with his work titled Paradox. In 2019, Raffi continued his studies at Universitas Padjadjaran, majoring in Television and Film, to further refine his skills and deepen his knowledge in the field. During college, he remained productive, creating short films with his new circle of friends. One of the works that brought him recognition among filmmakers and film festivals was Short on Cash (2022), a story about a 2000-rupiah banknote that managed to capture the attention of many. This success led to an opportunity to collaborate with the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in 2023, producing a public service announcement short film themed around the general election. In addition to his role as a director, Raffi also has experience in various production roles such as assistant director, clapper, sound recordist, videographer, and video editor for multiple projects, including short films, commercials, and web series. Raffi is determined to keep creating and succeed as a filmmaker, with a dream of one day releasing his own feature film in cinemas.
