biography

Daniel Emmerson is a British film producer. Working for DMC Film, the production company co-founded by Michael Fassbender and Conor McCaughan, Emmerson played a key role in developing the adaptation of Colin Barrett's short story "Young Skins" and guiding the project through financing and production. Before Calm with Horses, Emmerson held in-house production roles at DMC and was involved in development for other projects, including the Ubisoft-based adaptation Assassin's Creed and the BBC Films-supported Garagistas. His work on Calm with Horses involved sourcing the rights to the story, working with Rowland and Murtagh to shape the script, and securing funding from Film4, the Irish Film Board, and the WRAP Fund. Emmerson was nominated for several major awards. Calm with Horses earned a nomination at the 2021 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) for Outstanding British Film, shared with Nick Rowland and Joe Murtagh. It was also nominated for two awards at the 2021 British Independent Film Awards (BIFA): Best British Independent Film, shared with Rowland and Murtagh, and Breakthrough Producer for Emmerson himself.
